Chomyouji temple in Kyoto is quiet and doesn't offer much for the casual tourist. You can't enter any of the buidings and there aren't any gardens. In fact, it's really just a glorified car park. Having said that it can offer a lot to photographers especially if you get there at the right time.
It sits on Niomon Dori between Higashioji and Kawabatta. There's an impressive main hall and a couple of nice ginko trees and it's positioned perfectly to catch the evening sunlight, especially in the winter.
It's a great place to stop if you want to experience authentic old Kyoto that hasn't been dolled up for the tourists.
